Quilling Accreditation NAQG by Ann Martin

Are you a quiller who has noticed the phrase "Get the knack (NAQG)" but have no idea what it means?
The NAQG is none other than the North American Quilling Guild, a group of enthusiastic and dedicated quillers whose mission is to promote the lovely art of quilling and ensure that it is passed on to future generations.
Membership is open to quillers worldwide. Each year the NAQG hosts a three day convention complete with workshops, demos, and a competition, and also publishes a quarterly newsletter. It has its own website which is brimming with information, as well as a Yahoo member's group. The NAQG was officially formed in 2000, after several years of informal meetings. It is not affiliated with, nor in competition with The Quilling Guild in the UK, but is an independent and separate entity.

The NAQG is committed to providing support and assistance to help quillers perfect their quilling technique, advance their skill level, and share information, patterns, and tips. Perhaps you have also heard the word 'accreditation" used in conjunction with the NAQG recently and are curious about what this could mean for you. An accreditation process is currently being developed by a group of dedicated NAQG members, better known as the A-Team.

Accreditation will yield many positive benefits to members, but no quiller will be required to participate, and it will NEVER be used as a criterion for membership in the NAQG. The purpose of accreditation is to establish a standard of competency in the numerous skills and techniques utilized in the art of quilling. It also ensures that skillful techniquniques are retained by new generations of quilling artists. Those who wish to pursue accreditation will find support and encouragement along the way, and great personal and artistic satisfaction when they have achieved accredited status. Those who are not interested in pursuing that goal will still have access to all the information and benefits of the NAQG. Presently the ATeam is authoring an instruction manual that will serve to define every aspect of quilling technique. Stay tuned to the NAQG site for further details.

Meanwhile, why not consider joining the Guild today? You can become an official card-carrying NAQG member almost as fast as you can roll a few coils!
